As our
perspective shifts from duality consciousness to unity consciousness, how we
relate towards other individuated beings changes. Rather than relationships that are based out of need and a
perceived lack, relationships become celebrations of joy and a creative
outgrowth of the universal impulse.
When
we don’t know who we truly are we seek to fill what we believe and feel we
lack. There is no judgment in this
duality consciousness. It is simply a form and particular expression of All
That Is and within this expression there is beauty inherent. Seeking wholeness
through forms eventually wears out and becomes obsolete because it is partial
and unsatisfying. True awakening
is realizing who we are beyond all form.
When we discover our True Self, we also discover that whatever appears
in this True Self, this awareness, is a direct experience of this Divinity.
If we
live within duality consciousness, we can see effects of it in our daily
life. Relationships are especially
reflective of this. Relationships
that come together from a sense of lack are mentally, emotionally and
physically draining on some or many levels. They are uninspired – their togetherness is reactive to the
display of form rather than being active from True Self. This experienced suffering in
relationships is a form of grace.
It is a message directing us to look deeper. Seeking wholeness through another person or form gratefully
is not truly fulfilling, and a now deeper detachment and investigation is
required. Now a deeper fulfillment is available.
Some
of us who experience a shift of consciousness and an expansion of awareness may
not at first even fully realize this shift is occurring. Sometimes the facility of thought is
the last to know because there may have been an over emphasis and dependency on
thought. There is no greater power
than Love, and though it may seem that thoughts and emotions are extremely
important, to Love they are essentially transparent. This is not to say that thoughts and feelings stop
arising. On the contrary, they
actually deepen, clarify and become much more expansive.
When
living consciously in Truth, there is no longer the need to create based on
thoughts and feelings of lack, because one’s needs are always met in every
moment without trying to direct any thought or emotion. This is a major shift of
awareness. This shift cannot be
forced or faked on any level, nor in any way. To a truly awakened being, this shift can be seen if it has
taken place in another because there is that deeper knowing and feeling that
accompanies awakening.
When
this shift to universal awareness is blossoming, there can be a period of
confusion because it is accompanied by a totally different way of
relating. This is simply because
though our awareness is making the shift out of duality, we still have a
physical vehicle that is either male or female and dual in expression. When we are sufficiently grounded in
unity consciousness and residues of old patterns have dissolved, relating to
others is an act of conscious Love, and there is always an undercurrent of
joy. The expression of the body is
experienced as simply an outpouring of this fullness of Being.
Integrity
is at the forefront of all relationships whether they are work, family, play,
partner or sexual in orientation.
Though it is sweet to experience all of these types of relationships,
sometimes one or more does not manifest presently. To the awakened being, Love is always present regardless of
one’s life situation – regardless of the appearance of a form or activity. Living this Love, this Truth, clearly is
most satisfying because it is simply to abide as one’s True Self.
